Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Location 1

Disclaimer: Everything on the pages that follow is my personal adaptation of the story behind the Five Nights at Freddy's series, based on information collected from all the games and the book. It is not however fact or an official story confirmed by creator Scott Cawthon.

So, what's next for the story about what happened in Five Nights at Freddy's? Well we're about to delve into our first actual Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria! But no, we haven't reached the events of any of the games core sequences yet, what happens next is still a story put together from mini games, phone guy's calls and educated guesses, that being said everything fits into the time line seamlessly, so here's what I think happened... We've already discussed some of what happened at this location, so lets recap quickly...

First of we know that Freddy Fazbear's opened in 1983, with the spring lock animatronics Fredbear and Golden Bonnie and the main attractions. It was open at the same time that Fazbear Entertainment also took over Fredbear's Family Diner and all was well until the events of the mini games in Five Nights at Freddy's 4 caused Fredbear's to close and the spring lock suits to be discontinued. From there we known from Phone guy that temporary suits were provided until the new official animatronics were ready to be rolled out into the pizzerias and that is the start of our story for Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria in 1985. How do we know its 1985? Well we learn this date from the book...

What did you expect, that the whole place would be unchanged? A monument to the moment of your departure, frozen forever in July, 1985?

We known this is a legit way of identifying dates throughout the timeline because the dates of the books main events match the first games, but we'll talk about that when we finally get to that location! So what actually happened at this location then? Well by this point It's pretty common knowledge what happened, 5 kids were kidnapped, murdered and stuffed into animatronic suits. At this point Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy are the main attractions for the pizzeria with the spring lock suits hidden away in the back room. The killer was caught on camera but due to not being able to find the kids bodies he was set free with no charges. The Pizzeria stayed open for a while longer before it was closed down for health reasons due to the animatronics starting to stink, due to the dead bodied inside, although no one checked to see was what actually up with them. This is all stuff we learn from the changing news papers on the walls in the first game...

So what does that leave me to explain then right? Well honestly, as far as what happened goes, it doesn't leave me with much, what happened at this particular location isn't even a theory because it's explained to us outright in this first game. So we've covered the what and when, but what about the why and who? In order to work out why we need to figure out who the murderer is. As far as the book is concerned that's an easy question to answer...

William Afton was the one who made Freddy’s a business, as he had the previous restaurant, closed by a similar tragedy. Afton was as robust and lively as Henry was withdrawn and shadowy. He was a hefty man, and had the ruddy geniality of a financially shrewd Santa Claus. And he had killed the children.

We can also confirm that Afton is present as the killer within the world of the games thanks to him being mentioned right at the start of Sister Location and his name being on the blue prints for the rentals building. So all in all we can say who the killer is pretty easily, but who is he represented as in the games? For as long as I can remember everyone has labelled 'Purple Guy' as the killer, but what if they were wrong? What if the purple figure we see the most of in the game is just an innocent by stander? While I do believe that one of the purple coloured figures from the mini games is the killer working out which one is a crucial part of the story. So let's compare...

As you can see there's one thing that 3 of the 4 version's of purple guy have in common, and no its not the colour, its the eyes. The purple guys we see most of all have bright white eyes, to me that indicates they're the same person or they are multiple people doing the same job. But what about our slightly pinker guy in the middle? Not only is there no white in his eyes, but his design is slightly different, he's the only one of them to ever be facing to the right and the way his face is laid out is completely unique. This says to me that this figure is a completely separate individual to the other three. Now lets look at the only 2 times we actually see children being killed in the mini games...

Again, as you can see, both times children are actually seen as dead, this particular figure is present. Any other time you see a purple figure its with animatronics present, either being dismantled or in suit mode. Regardless, we're not here to talk in great detail about purple guy or pink guy and what they represent in the game, all you need to know is that it is this particular figure that I think is William Afton and any other version of purple guy for my story has been ruled out.

So, the only question left is why? Why would the part owner of a successful pizzeria start killing innocent people? And not just people, but kids, for all intensive purposes the livelihood of his business? Well the answer to why this all started is more complex and convoluted than anything else you will see written on this site...

The answer? LOVE... a little jealousy but mainly love. But not just any kind of love, the obsessive, dangerous kind of love, the kind that will make any manner of evil seam acceptable as long as its in the name of LOVE. The thing is, Afton may have not been thinking like your average human when he made the decision to kill these kids, (I'm going to be as PC as possible here I promise!) .... take a look back at the comparisons between the different purple guys appearing in the games series, look closely at the one I have labelled as the killer. In comparison to the other representations of a human figure in the games, he doesn't look quite 'right' does he? his face is a markedly different design to any other human figure seen in the games and its not just different its, its HAPPY, happy to have killed a child but almost in a crazy way. To me it seams like this particular person suffers with some kind of mental health condition that prevents him from thinking that murder is a bad thing when all he's trying to do is carry out his plan to make these kids happy, by keeping them in a place that he knows they love, with the characters they love, forever. As far as he's concerned, he's making these kids dreams come true, they will now live out the rest of there existence in their favourite place. Not only this but because of whatever illness he has, his concept of love seams to be warped completely, while at Fredbear's Afton was surrounded by a family with the average concept of love, a husband and wife with 2 kids who all loved each other dearly. While we known that Afton has at least a son and daughter, his obsession was his work, but despite all the love he gave to it, it never gave anything back, not until he got the satisfaction making the kids he murdered 'happy'. my evidence? A very complex and heartfelt quote from the book....

“We both wanted to love,” he said in those melodious tones. “Your father loved. And now I have loved.” “You killed,” Carlton said, then burst out with something that sounded like a laugh. He seemed more lucid now, as if anger were focusing his mind. He shook loose of Jessica’s hands on his arms and knelt down on the floor. “You’re a sick bastard,” Carlton sputtered. “And you’ve created monsters. The kids you killed are still here. You’ve imprisoned them!” “They are home, with me.” Dave’s voice was coarse as he said it, and the large mascot head slid forward, tilting. “Their happiest day.”

It's not much in the way of evidence, but it's enough for me to know the things I need to give Afton a motive. Him talking about Charlie's father loving, through his family, and Afton wanting that love as well, so he himself had a family, but didn't feel the love he thought he would, he ended up finding that love in enabling kids to stay in the place they love the most, even at the deadliest of costs.

So I've mentioned Afton's family a far bit in this location, but how do I know he had a family? All that and more, explained in the next Location!
